“Our Faith, Donors, and St. Odilia’s Vision Will Survive!”

March 29, 2020 by Vice Principal/DMD

St. Odilia School’s story has been one of survival, so this historical world health crisis will be another chapter in our schools ability to maintain our faith and belief in God’s almighty presence through the ongoing charity of our “dear donors.”  Nearly 20 years ago, our school almost faced closure due to low enrollment since we only served K through 6th grade; we needed to expand our campus to include grades 6 – 8.  The situation seemed dire, until 1999 when Cardinal Mahoney announced at  the Cardinal’s Award Dinner that St, Odilia School would receive $500,000.00 to build 3 new middle school classrooms and a library on our existing campus. From that day forward, our students and their families have continued to benefit from the generosity of foundations, individual donors, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles  So, as we meet the challenges of distance learning, social distancing, and staying at home, our future vision must focus on God’s power to work through our “dear donors” in this time of crisis. Therefore, let us reflect on the many blessings St. Odilia School has received, and rest assured our school and Catholic Education will survive and continue to have a positive impact on the communities we all serve.
