Because of the kindness of the Molina Foundation, every student at St. Odilia School left today with a brand new book to read at home with their family! Reading is such an important skill that gaining a love for it is critical to the academic progress of children. Students should read at least 15 minutes nightly from material they enjoy to develop good reading habits. Studies also indicate that free reading done outside of school by students promotes growth in vocabulary, comprehension, and verbal fluency. Students who read independently also become better readers, and score higher on achievement tests. So parents, start a family reading night and help develop the joy of reading in your home tonight!
